Bathroom Re-Do

Ooooo Fancy!!
We were sick of our colors in the house and so we decided to switch things up a bit.
The first room that is finished, the bathroom. I love how it turned out, there is only so much you can do with TVA Apartments.

We got a plain white shower curtain and some FREE paint (Ace was giving quarts away Saturday, we walked away with 4). We decided on grey stripes. Measured, taped and then painted. I was surprised with how well it turned out.

Have I mentioned how I love decorating the cheap way. Garage sales, side of the road treasures, freebie bin, etc. A few weekends ago, I asked Miah if he could build me a shelf for the bathroom. He designed something on paper. While driving, I saw this on the side of the road. I told him to pull over. I walked up to the house and they were cleaning out their garage. I asked if they were selling the stuff at the end of the driveway...NOPE. Take what you want!! This awesome medicine cabinet and jumper cables. Miah was happy, he didn't have to build me anything.
Free cabinet + Free paint = Awesomeness!!

Inside my lovely cabinet....of course my DoTerra Oils and Vitamins. Have you heard of them, tried them? If not, you need to. I love them and will continue to use them for as long as I live. My doctor here gave up on my kidney and autoimmune disease...I didn't. I turned to DoTerra.
Try it!

I made this awhile ago. I picked this 1920's Print Press Tray Beauty up on Ebay. I turned it into my beach collection display. I love how it turned out. It hangs on the wall across from the toilet. Something lovely to look at while doing your duty. I will take this with me where ever we move to. I will someday change it to the seasons or holidays. I love it, such endless designs.
My mom wants one so bad. Sorry Mom, I love this one too much. I will get you one when we move off the Island. I promise. The hours we will spend decorating them together.
I'm excited!!

I found these shower curtain rings at a garage sale, one set 50 cents!! Told ya I was cheap that way. Well they were funky 70's colors. I painted them too, with the free paint and some white I had lying around. Then smacked a few clear coats....BOOM!!

A closer look. I love how they bring the colors all in.

Our bathroom is finished. Bells walked in and said she loved it, the paint was pretty. The rest of the house is on its way. I'll post the rooms as they get finished. But for now, I am going to go sit in my bathroom and enjoy the wonderful new view!!!

Nike Love

We are seriously such a crazy couple.
Just look at us.
Hahaha
I am excited to let you know that Bells got her first pair of shoes and guess what she wanted....
drum roll please....
NIKE SHOES!!!
I have taught her well and she makes me so proud.
We had to get her a pair of shoes because we were planning on going hiking and she is old enough to walk the whole way, I laugh as I am writing this. We went to Nordstrom Rack and I let her pick. She held my hand down the isle and said she wanted pink, it is her favorite color. Then she said she wanted shoes like Mommy. A little confused, I never wear shoes...EVER!!
As we walked a little further, she let go of my hand and ran and scooped up these cute Nike shoes. She showed them to me and said they were like Mommy and pointed to the Nike swoosh. Be still my beating heart, be still!!

We have everything we need,
Love and Nike!

Every time we go to Sports Authority we walk to the girls section and I want to buy her the little girls running shorts and a shirt to match. But as I said before, we are on our way to join a nudist colony Jeremiah reminds me and I put them back.

B-E-A--U-TIFUL!!

I was on a run the other day in my new running shoes, I kept thinking to myself...
I feel sorry for Cinderella, her prince got a pair of heels. My prince got me a pair of Nike Shoes.
She has no idea what she is missing out on.
Poor Cinderella!!

Just Do It
We Do
Do You?

Swing Away My Child

Hawaii is back....the weather that is. We are fully enjoying playing outside and the lack of clothes.
I believe we might join a nudist colony. Really, who wouldn't want to join one?
Here at TVA they don't really allow people to make themselves at home. By that I mean putting up swings, lawn chairs, BBQ's or anything fun. But our neighbor got away with this rope swing.

The kiddos love it. Often fight over it but they are kids, I'm right in there fighting for a turn!

She was trying to climb it and reach the branch.

I think we have a future trapeze artist. I wouldn't mind either, who doesn't love a circus?

Welcome back warm sunny days.
We have missed you!!

Are we in Alaska?

I feel like we have been carried away in our sleep to Alaska and that is not cool!! Do not get me wrong, Alaska is beautiful but its cold, dark and windy. I like to be warm and dry...hence why we moved to Hawaii.
We have encountered a storm, one of the worst Hawaii has seen. There has been hail, huge thunder and lightening storms and LOTS of rain. Here are a few snap shots of what has been happening.

Pour guy crossing the "street".

A little look into the community.

A look at the school's computer lab. Yet they are still holding classes!! They will cancel school cause of a surf day or close up early because its Friday and they can but this...NO WAY!!

People attempting to head to class.

The entrance to our school, seriously?!

One of the fields or did they just put in a man made lake...you choose!

Another picture of somewhere in the school.
I was lucky enough to get out for a run this morning. Miah wouldn't let me at first but there was a break in the rain and I went ahead and got out. It was crazy, the community has it a lot worse than we do on campus. The ocean is so brown because of the rain. I want our clear / blue ocean back. I forgot what it was like to feel warm and sun tan at the beach. It not only has been rainy but COLD. I dressed in long sleeves, pants and socks, eating soup yesterday, contemplating on turning the oven on just to heat the house.
Hawaii we want the sunshine back!!

A lot of Dancing

We found this clip today and it made us laugh. We never realized how much dancing we do at our house. There are nights after dinner when we jam out to music and just dance for an hour or two. Miah always asks if we should close the curtains, I think it is because he doesn't want anybody to see his amazing moves....HAHAHA!!

This was just the other day. Our friend Sylvester came upstairs after Bells invited him to watch Jurassic Part, he had never seen it. Then the music came on once again....
He couldn't stop showin' off his sweet dance moves!

Cake and Flowers

I spent my birthday on the road...the horrible pouring down rain roads!! I had a doctors appointment in town for my kidneys (I know who wants that?) and Miah had school till 9, so it was once again into town alone. Well if you haven't heard, Hawaii has been having down pour for about a week or so straight. Making for a historical rain fall, blah!!
The hospital is about 50 minutes away, it took us just shy of two hours to get there. We were in complete standstill traffic for 45 minutes. I was told to bring in a cake for my birthday, since when does the birthday girl bring in a cake for HER birthday? The office loved it and brought me in these flowers. Bells loved smelling them, she wouldn't stop, weirdo!! I know them too well there, I think our dates need to stop. When your Christmas card list has your nephrologist and phlebotomists at the top of the list....you need to change where you hang out.
This was my gift.....

This is what they brought Bells....

When asked if Mommy could have a piece (I made the cheesecake afterall) she pointed to the flowers and said they were mine and then pointed to the cake and said they were hers and gave me this smile.
Then she finished licking her fingers!

Rainbow Cookies Please!!

Bells has developed the love of cooking and baking as her Mommy and Daddy did. She loves helping in the kitchen...A LOT!! Not just the normal kid, putting a scoop of flour, getting bored, then coming back when the cookies are finished to eat them. She does the whole thing. She even locks the kitchen aid when we turn it on. I love this so much and take this opportunity to teach her so many things, more so counting and what ingredients are. I guess I could start with the intense stuff, who knows she could be Julia Child by 5 years old or maybe Paula Deen, she does like butter. Anyway, I have been pretty sick this week with kidney stuff but before I got sick, I promised her I would make Rainbow Cookies with Sprinkles with her. Poor girl, she is so patient. Finally I felt okay on Saturday and we made them, the three of us. We had so much fun too! Then she always has to make bags and deliver to her friends. She is so sweet!!

She is one happy little girl.

It is actually pretty fun and easy. Here is a quick break down. I used my Vanilla-Almond Sugar Cookie recipe (it is my favorite sugar cookie recipe). Split the dough into 5 parts, dye each a color. Roll the colors into small grape size balls, put in a group of the five colors. Roll together, to where it will look like a beach ball. Then roll into a 12 inch rope, simply roll up and roll in sprinkles. Then bake and make people of all ages happy!!
Let me know if you need any help or the recipe!! Now go to your kitchen and start baking!

You Must Start Them Young

I was taught at a very young age, it was time....
She loves it, almost too much....
This face scares me and I want to run and hide....

The attack of the broccoli wetness!!

Telling me she wants it for dinner and making sure it has plenty of water.

The Attack!! I have taught her well!!
It really doesn't have to be broccoli, just anything that is swing-able, hides water in its bundles and looks interesting. You trick your target, pulling them to look at the beautiful and yummy piece of vegetable...swing back and cover them with water. I loved doing this to my mom at the store. When I was younger, she was a good sport. But as you get older, you must get better. I'm proud to say she goes straight to the broccoli when we hit the store!!
